PAROS ROCKS | 2005
The site is located in the west side of the island with a view towards the island of Antiparos. The house designed occupies a surface of 275m2. The concept of the house is inspired by the linear array of different sizes of rocks.
Different volumes are put aside following the principles of traditional architecture where the houses where growing up as the families became populous. Extended walls are created in order to protect the courtyards from the side winds. Thick stepped parapets complete the cubist synthesis which is influenced by the movement of Cubism of the beginning of the century. All this volumetric play becomes even more intricate as it is sculpted by the bright natural light of the Cyclades and its intense, ever-changing shadows.
