PAROS CUBISM

The lot is situated at the outskirts of the town of Naoussa. The design consists of a complex of a main and a guest house that both occupy a surface of 252 m2. The design concept is influenced by the distorted perspective we meet in paintings of the cubist movement. The cubist synthesis is created by a combination of inclined and vertical walls, as well as thick escalating parapets. The main courtyard is connected through stairs to the building terraces where the view towards the sea is magnificent. At the interior, the concrete roof and the cement floor form two horizontal planes that delimit the white walls. Niches with recessed lighting fixtures reveal the plasticity of the space. In the bathrooms the dialogue between the cement and the white is expressed in the wash-basin’s area. This minimalist colour palette refers to the mineral ascetic character of the Aegean idiom.
