EVIA OLIVE | 2012
The complex consists of four separate buildings, the main house with the two storey stone volume and one floor guest houses which are situated in an inclined olive grove overlooking the gulf of Evia. They are all situated in the north upper side of the lot, following the landscape’s morphology and giving the overall impression of a small settlement. The volumes meander among the trees, creating small sheltered courtyards that enjoy privacy and beautiful sea views. Everything works to create a bio-climatic complex. No air condition needed due to thick walls, good insulation of the terraces and the adaption to the microclimate of the olive grove. Small courtyards shaded by the trees work as buffering zones from the sun and heat. Rain water is collected and reused for watering the garden.
